Bringing women together in Kathud village

In Kathud village in Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, AdiSamarth Foundation brought village women together and initiated a Self-Help Group approach to encourage collective effort and self-reliance.

Exploring a practical livelihood opportunity

The initiative included starting a project around small-scale manufacturing of paper plates and paper cups/glasses. The idea was to explore a local enterprise through which women could work together, build skills and pursue livelihood opportunities.

What sustainable support can involve

  • Appropriate machinery and workspace, based on a verified project plan.
  • Training in production, product quality and safe equipment use.
  • Raw materials, packaging and realistic operating budgets.
  • Market research, customer connections and sales planning.
  • Ongoing guidance for group coordination and basic enterprise management.

Building opportunity with dignity

Self-reliance takes more than motivation. It needs a workable plan, suitable equipment, training, market access and transparent management. We aim to support community-led efforts based on real needs and available resources.
